Brief Summary of Episode #271

Data's value has increased exponentially as our digital world grows ever smaller.

Industry giants in every sector are foregoing tangible commodities for digital assets as they try to grab their piece of the pie — and that includes the world’s banks.

“We’ll try to financialize everything,” Emmanuel Daniel, Founder of The Asian Banker and author of The Great Transition, told me. “Some things will not be, but for the next 100 years, the world will go through that process because data defines everything we do.”

Part of that process will be decoding the role cryptocurrencies will play in what Emmanuel believes is the next stage in the global economy’s evolution: network marketing.

“It’s not valuation that decides the validity of Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. It’s its utility — the sheer energy,” he said.

Ultimately, whoever holds the keys to the data kingdom will lead the world into a complex digital future.

Emmanuel has a strong opinion on who that will be.

“China is not going to drive the world or define our future,” he argued. “It's going to be the U.S. because the U.S. handles the single most important commodity asset in human civilization today, and that is information.”
