Brief Summary of Episode #264

In a culture that puts instant gratification on a pedestal, it’s easy to make excuses when it comes to personal branding.

But planting your flag in a fast-moving digital world doesn’t happen overnight. It takes work.

As the Duchess of Decorum, Pattie Ehsaei, told us, every financial leader has the time to build their personal brand. They just have to be intentional about making it.

“We need to let go of that ‘I need to feel good right at this second’ mentality,” Pattie said. “Understand that you have to pay the price for anything.”

After all, while you’re not putting in the effort to build your brand, someone else is grabbing their piece of the pie.

“You’ve got to keep up,” Pattie said. “If you don’t put in the time, you’re not going to keep up, and you’re going to be behind the eight ball.”

Regardless of the platform you choose when considering personal branding, ask yourself one simple question.

“How are you going to add value?” Pattie asked. “If you’re not adding value in some way, shape, or form, you’re not going to get the following you want.”

Help first and sell second. By providing content that helps everyday people with everyday problems, you can take your personal brand to higher heights.
